Announcing New Health
Savings Accounts
You have probably read or heard about new legislation that was effective January 1st of this year, to allow companies and individuals to set up Health Savings Accounts (HSA). Basically, this is a tax deductible account, which allows tax-free withdrawals, if used for medical expenses. These accounts must be used with a high deductible insurance plan. These Plans are available for both individuals and employer groups.
We have started to get quotes from the few companies that currently have a product ready to market and we believe that most insurance companies will be out with an HSA compatible plan within the next 4-6 months.
These plans are not available for Medicare recipients, however I suspect this may change in the not too distant future, if these plans become popular and widespread.
