December 2009
It’s hard to believe that once again here we are in
December with a new year just around the corner. As we reflect on the last two years, one
of the most eventful two years in our market and economic history, we think it
would be good to add the following six resolutions to your New Year’s
Resolution List:
1. Get out and stay out of debt
Ø Pay off your credit cards every 30 days.
Ø
Do not buy any wasting assets on credit.
2. Live within your means
Ø
Have a budget and stick to it.
3. Be mindful of the need to focus on what you can control
Ø
Since we don’t have control of the
national debt or unemployment, don’t let the negative economic news upset
your mental attitude.
4. Set goals
Ø
Establish short term and long term goals and
post them where you will see them frequently.
5. Pay yourself first
Ø
Save a part of everything you earn.
6. Have
a sound investment program
Ø
Be sure you have adequate diversification,
proper asset allocation, and be globally invested.
Of course most of our clients are already doing these things, so you might pass this on to family or friends as six simple rules to help them get on track and stay on track.
Over the past two years, we’ve talked to most clients about their portfolios. If we’ve missed you for some reason or you would like to discuss your investments in more detail, we are always available to meet with you.
We want to thank you for your continued trust and confidence and wish you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.
